Research is showing that
1. Among Canadian workers ages 15 to 75, 28.4% reported high work-related stress. This rate has gone down slightly since 2005, but a substantial proportion of workers are highly stressed most of their working days.
2. Canada became the first country in the world in 2013 to release a national standard for mental health in the workplace. The standard is voluntary, but it is designed to help organizations and their employees improve their workplace psychological health and safety. http://www.benefitscanada.com/benefits/health-wellness/5-key-stats-about-canadians-mental-health-61795
3. “This survey shows that most Americans either don’t have or don’t know about emotional support programs available through their employer—and I’m not sure which is worse,” says Workplace Options CEO Dean Debnam. “The reality is that mental health issues are a much more serious problem than the business community believes. For employers in other parts of the world, mental health and emotional support for employees is a given. We haven’t reached that point yet in the U.S.”
More than one-third (37%) of working Americans report they have dealt with a mental illness impacting them or a family member during the course of their career. And 45% report that they work with at least one colleague or co-worker who has done the same.
Even more interesting for employers is that 63% of those who said they had personally dealt with mental health issues missed work because of it—with 40% saying they missed several full days, a week or more.
“When employees are dealing with stress, anxiety, depression and other forms of mental illness, it’s difficult for them to do their job effectively,” says Debnam. “These issues impact people, profits and operations. Canadians are experiencing moderate to severe stress for longer periods all the time. So far we’ve looked at stress as our enemy, but recent research is saying it is not only the stress itself that is affecting our mental – and physical – health, but indeed how we think about stress and how we act upon stress that matters too.
Life in 2016 is stressful. Every single day an estimated 000000000 Canadians call in sick due to stress and stress related issues. This is an estimated $ 0000000 every single day plus the frustration and mental health factor for not only the employee but also the employer. The stress we are experiencing is not only related to our job but a reflection of an imbalance in our lives as a whole. Therefore we need a holistic approach when dealing with stress.

“When I first met Stine I was in a complete “mess mode” as I say. I had moved away from my country, giving up my friends, family and job, and my not even 1 year marriage was already falling apart; I was completely lost about who I was, and what I represented in this whole context. Stine made me see my life and my marriage in a different perspective, and helped me find strength and understanding to fight for a new beginning. She showed me a better version of me, and I could not have come to where I am today without her help. All I can say is that you were an angel that showed up when I was on my breaking point, and I have nothing but a lot of THANK YOU to you! You rock!!
